This year's Bakersfield Baby Fest and Family Expo, will be held on May 9th 2009 at River Walk Park 8am-6pm. This is Kern county's largest event of it's kind to educate parents on everything from pregnancy to preschool. This years event will benefit The Ronald McDonald House here in Bakersfield. My name is Marsha Bidwell, and I am the founder of this fabulous community event. I am in charge of sales and marketing. I own The Doula Connection, located in Bakersfield, CA. I am a Holistic Therapist as well as a Medical Massage Therapist. I am also a Birthing Doula. I have 4 children of my own. I also have a 4 year old grandson who is my little 'doodle bug'. I have been a Doula now for over 5 years and I love to help new parents. I have personally attended over 250 births to date. My favorite part of being a Doula is holding and cuddling all those babies. I feel that there is no greater honor then to be asked by another woman to be present for the birth of her child. I have been working on Baby Fest for over 4 years and I am proud to bring it to a community near you. I feel that you need an education to drive a car or do most any kind of a job, but there's no experience or education necessary to have a baby, well, we’re going to change that. Along with bringing education and awareness to parents we are bring out your communities’ local business. Giving them an opportunity to show the community what they have to offer. I feel that bringing support for moms, dads, and child caregivers is extremely important. I look forward to meeting you at this year’s Baby Fest.

Hello! My name is Rebecca, and I have been a doula for over four years! I am the mother of seven children --yes, 7!-- I have 6 boys and 1 girl, and absolutely love mommies and babies! I am a Child Development and Family Studies Major and have worked with families for over 14 years! My passion is to help families thrive... from Pregnancy through the child-rearing years! Having the privilege of helping parents achieve a beautiful and smooth start to parenthood is a passion of mine.
I count it a blessing to help a new mother and her partner prepare for labor and birth, educating them and equipping them for the most rewarding task there is.... Giving Birth to and Raising a child! I have helped many parents through their new journey, vaginal and cesarean deliveries. I spoil my Mommies, giving the upmost care and attention to their needs, before, during and after delivery. I have a complete package available, starting in pregnancy, all the way through the first years of a child's life!
